In 2018 Coach Dak Sivertson led the 15UA team to a 15th place finish in all of SCVA. In 2017 he took the 15UA  team to a silver medal at the 2017 USA Nationals. In 2016 Dak’s 15UA team was 5th in SCVA. He is currently the Assistant Coach at Pomona Pitzer college. In 2015 and 2016, Dak helped coach at D1, UCR.  He also coached a varsity team for the Forza 4 All middle school league.

“From Dak” My family and I have moved to California from Tenessee in 2015 and we continue to be excited to be involved with Forza1 for another season!  Previously, for five years, I had the pleasure of coaching at Alliance VBC where I was involved with multiple teams from ages 13 to 16. I’ve really enjoyed all the coaches I have worked with and the players I have been fortunate enough to know. Those players’ achievements and commitment has led me to USA Volleyball’s National Championship Tournament as well as competing in the open level at AAUs each year, finishing in the top 20 three times. Prior to moving to Tennessee, I coached at the high school and junior high level, winning the first two conference championships for the school in three years. I also spent a year coaching at Lipscomb University under Brandon Rosenthal, which I enjoyed very much!

I got involved in volleyball in high school where, knowing nothing about the sport, made the team as a freshman and played all four years, starting three. I only tried out because the only other sport to play at the time was baseball. After being introduced to the game, growing up in San Diego gave me plenty of opportunities to get involved in beach volleyball, which I really enjoyed. I played volleyball at Cal State Monterey Bay, leading the team in kills and attempts. Knee issues took me out of the game, but not before I found myself completely passionate about the sport.

I coach because I like it. I enjoy watching people get better and improve at whatever they are doing. I enjoy the competitiveness and camaraderie only athletics can bring. I never want to stop improving in everything I do, so I’ll never stop doing things that make me better. I also have two daughters playing volleyball, Devin and Kelly, who will continue to play at the top level at Forza1. We are all supported by my fantastic wife Dawna, who loves the game, families, and players as much as I do.

My system and practices are high tempo and as “game like” as I can make it. We split practices into training and playing, encouraging players to find how one makes you better at the other. I am intense and focused in every aspect of my life, volleyball is no different. There is always something to work on, I have yet to get through a practice plan.
